Pro bono assistance

PROTECTION SHOULD NOT DEPEND ON THE ABILITY TO PAY A LEGAL FEE.

IFG intends to establish a professional network of lawyers willing to support selected cases without fees, according to transparent and documented criteria.

Access to legal advice is often the first barrier for those who have suffered fraud. That is why the association is working to create a pro bono programme with professionals registered with their respective bars.

The programme is being built. We cannot yet guarantee that a professional will be available for every request: engagement depends on jurisdiction, subject matter and available resources.

No lawyer in the network is an employee of the association. The professional relationship is established directly between the client and the professional, with their own engagement terms, conditions and responsibilities.

How it works

  1. 1

    Assessment of the request

We review the case confidentially to establish whether it meets the programme criteria.

  2. 2

    Finding the professional

We look for a professional with the right expertise and jurisdiction who is available to act pro bono.

  3. 3

    Direct engagement

The client instructs the lawyer directly, on terms agreed in writing.

Eligibility criteria

  • Insufficient resources to meet a professional fee
  • A case falling within one of the association's areas of work
  • A jurisdiction where a network professional is available
  • Minimum documentation available to assess the facts
  • No conflict of interest with the association or its members

The pro bono programme does not guarantee legal assistance, does not replace legal aid provided by law and does not constitute a promise of any outcome.
